Work started on refurbishing the park in June 2011.
A lottery grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund has been won by the council for £3.48m and they are match funding it with £1.75m. The work is expected to be completed by late spring of 2012.
Work will start in July 2011 on refurbishing the William Morris Gallery and a new wing with a cafe will be built at a cost of £5.2m made up of a Heritage Lottery Grant of £1.2m and match funding from the council of £1.5m and donations from various charities. The WMG is expected to re-open in July 2012.
